The development will be organized into three blocks:
- Block A: Apartments 1 to 12
- Block B: Apartments 13 to 26
- Block C: Apartments 27 to 44
The full address for the development will be: Block A, Apt No. 1-12 / Block B, Apt No. 13-26 / Block C, Apt No. 27-44, Gleann Abhann / Glenavon, 46 Ballymun Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9
Glenavon
In keeping with the heritage of the site, the proposed name for the development is Gleann Abhann / Glenavon. This recommendation was presented to the Chairperson and Members of the Central Area Committee for final approval. During the recent committee meeting, a significant discussion took place regarding the naming and numbering proposal for the development at 46 Ballymun Road. Upon further research, it was discovered that “Glenavon” connects to the area’s historical and geographical context. “Glasnevin” translates to “stream” in Irish, and “Glenavon” refers to a “glen of the river”, so there exists a huge connection due to the old river. This connection was a pivotal point in addressing the concerns and led to a consensus on the appropriateness of the name.
Heritage Officer Report
Dublin City Council’s Heritage Officer reviewed the proposed name and provided a recommendation confirming its appropriateness. The Irish translation of the name has been verified by the Council’s Irish Office, ensuring cultural and linguistic accuracy.
Thank you for your attention to this important update. I look forward to continuing our work together to build a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for Glasnevin.
Warm regards,
Martina
